Joseph's First T-Ball Game

Joseph had his first t-ball game a little over a week ago. It was funny, sometimes frustrating, but definitely fun to watch. Their uniforms are youth sizes... a youth small on a 3-yr old is pretty funny. His hat is so big it pushes his ears out. His pants are so big that we had to go find a baseball belt small enough for his tiny little waist (of course we didn't get one until after the first game, so we had to improvise by rolling them and pulling the drawstring as tight as it would go). He looked super cute regardless of the over-sized uniform.

Technically he's playing Jr. T-Ball. There are no umpires, no outs, and everyone gets to bat each inning. There are coaches, but most of the parents still end up out on the field and running the bases with their kids. Joseph is a little confused about the difference between offense and defense, so as soon as he hit the ball the first time, he ran to get the ball :) He also didn't want to run the bases so I had to drag him around to each base. When he was in the field, he wanted to catch every ball that was hit and if he didn't get to the ball before his teammates, he broke down in tears. That's where it became frustrating. Towards the end of the game, Joseph decided to just play in the dirt instead of trying to catch the ball. That seemed to be pretty typical of all these sweet 3-yr olds :)

His 2nd game was much better and more organized and he actually looked like he knew what was going on. I know he'll continue to learn and improve. He's having fun and we're having fun watching him. That's all that matters!

Ready for some defense

Back to the batters... again with no glove :)
