October 19 was our 10th Anniversary and it happened to also be a 4-day weekend for the kids and grandparents too! Knowing that the grandmas had Friday and Monday off work, we were able to plan a trip to celebrate our anniversary and leave the kids in good hands all weekend. We flew into San Francisco on Friday and spent a couple hours seeing the major things: Alcatraz, Ghirardelli, and the fog-covered Golden Gate Bridge. And our lunch was soup in a sourdough bread bowl.
We then headed to Napa and Sonoma Valleys. They are beautiful!! We were there during harvest, so most of the vines were starting to change colors and many of them still had large bundles of grapes ready to be picked in the coming week or so. We did a self-guided bike tour on Saturday through Sonoma. It was a lot of fun and since I skipped out on running Friday, I felt like riding the bike would be sufficient exercise. It was. Sunday we drove from place to place in Napa Valley and really enjoyed seeing some of the bigger vineyards. Sunday night we ate at Bottega which is Chef Michael Chiarello's restaurant (if you watch Top Chef or Food Network, you know who he is). It was DELICIOUS and we definitely ate too much food :)
Before heading back home on Monday morning, we made it to one last vineyard that had a gondola ride. Looking out over all the beautiful vineyards was amazing! We had a wonderful time and will definitely go back someday!
