For Spring Break, my mom and I took the kids to McAllen, TX to visit my grandparents. It's a 9 hour drive from here, so we made a pit stop in Austin on the way down. I have 2 cousins and their families that live in Austin, so we were able to stay with one of them. Nick and Amanda were (and always are) wonderful hosts and the kids love playing with their babies, Abby and Matthew. After a delicious pork chop dinner, Nick and Amanda pulled out their snow cone machine. This thing is professional quality!! The snow cones were perfect! We enjoyed seeing their family and are very grateful for their hospitality!!
The next morning we finished the drive to McAllen. My grandparents live in a retirement community called Bibleville where are the streets are Bible names. Grandpa has a golf cart that was definitely a hit with the kids. They couldn't get enough of it. While we were there, we did some shopping, played shuffleboard and putt-putt, and even went to the Brownsville Zoo! We all had a great time and it was so nice to spend time with my grandparents!
We decided to drive straight back home on Thursday and it wasn't bad at all. The kids were well entertained with movies and a pit stop at the outlets in San Marcos. I enjoyed driving the tollway that bypasses Austin's terrible traffic and my mom and I admired all the spring wildflowers, including the bluebonnets, the whole way home. We had a great spring break trip!
