Girl's Carolina Weekend

Back in May, we planned a family trip for August to North Carolina to meet my niece, Brantley. She was born in June and Anna has talked about meeting her ever since then. Unfortunately, Joseph had a fever the entire day before we were supposed to leave. He also wasn't eating anything which is very unusual for him! When he woke up the next morning, still with a fever and not wanting to eat anything, we made the decision to keep the boys at home and Anna and I went on our way to North Carolina. We were sad to leave Marc and Joseph at home, but he needed his rest which he wouldn't have gotten by spending a day in airports and on airplanes. So, away we went, just us girls!

Is there any question this little boy is sick??

We flew on Southwest, which of course meant we had to stop somewhere and change planes. We headed to St. Louis first. The first leg of the trip was great, but then a huge storm went through St. Louis and delayed the departure of our next flight to NC. Luckily, Anna was able to watch the rain and show it off to her Jessie doll.

When we finally got to NC (only a couple hours late), we met up with Beth who took a different flight that wasn't delayed. I don't think she was happy having to wait 2 hours for us to finally get there...

We met up with Steve, April, and Brantley at Chili's and then headed to their house to relax and let the girls play. Anna LOVED seeing Brantley and kept telling us, "It's MY cousin Brantley, not YOUR cousin Brantley."

Anna enjoyed playing on their swing set. She also enjoyed watching Auntie April cook. Brantley loves to cook as well! They even entertained each other while cooking :)On Saturday we went to the beach. This was a hit because it was Anna's first time on a beach... and Brantley's too! Anna was a little timid around the water at first, but then decided it was the coolest thing! She was getting too brave for me. She played with sand toys and found seashells. It was not easy telling her it was time to leave the beach. I think she takes after her Auntie Beth and loves the water and sun!We got home from the beach, got all cleaned up and relaxed. Auntie Beth decided to braid Anna's hair to keep it out of her face and Anna thought she was a beautiful princess since her hair was so pretty... I like it too! Beth better teach me how to do that :)
Brantley looks good in Jessie's hat!

On Monday, we were able to go to the Air Force Base and see Uncle Buda's big jet airplane! Anna did not like the fact that she had to cover her ears, but she got over it somewhat quickly... She was amazed at how big the planes were. We even saw a few of them take off! Thanks, Uncle Buda, for taking us to see your plane!!

Grandmommy had made the girls matching dresses earlier in the summer knowing we were going to visit them. The girls looked absolutely precious!!

We had a wonderful trip, just us girls! Next time we might bring the boys along. Thank you Steve, April, and Brantley for letting us come visit and for all your yummy cooking and fun times!
